Disaster Relief
As a state prone to many types of weather-related natural disasters, Wood Group Gives is committed to helping our communities rebuild when tragedy strikes.
In 2022, a tornado hit Salado, TX, just miles away from one of our Wood Group offices. Many families were displaced and some lost everything they had. The Wood Group had the privilege of helping a family clean up their property from the storm damage sustained, including the loss of their entire home and every tree in their property.
Laura Palmer, Wood Group Loan Officer (NMLS 1544873) and Wood Group Gives volunteer, said:
I’m always touched by the people I get to call my work family. These people showed up with all their heart yesterday after a last minute call to come help with cleanup. They worked hard and got to talk with the family about the day the storm hit. Tears, goosebumps, and a lot of “that was God” moments. So thankful their hearts.
Through all the damage, there is still so much beauty. A son who was protected by the only walls that didn’t collapse or blow away. All the dogs, cats & chickens that survived. Little memories still being found in the rubble.
