El Ayundante

Comayagua, Honduras

One of our partners is a ministry in Comayagua, Honduras called El Ayudante, that helps transform communities by meeting the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the people. It is our goal to take teams to Honduras once or twice each year.

What We Do

We work with El Ayudante to build churches, adobe homes, and improve school buildings. We also install water filters giving clean water to those who have none and construct latrines bringing sanitation into the lives of families. There are Vacation Bible Schools and children's programs for the Honduran kids and their families, and opportunities to work in the medical clinic, providing care to the region.

About Honduras

Honduras is a beautiful tropical country located in Central America. It borders Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador, and the Carribean Sea. About 66% of the population lives on less than $4 per day, and 20% of those live in extreme poverty, living on $2 per day. There are almost 10 million people in Honduras, and on average only one-third of the children attend school past the primary level. The country has an extraordinarily unequal distribution of income and soaring unemployment rates (around 28%). Most trade relies on the U.S., including tourism & agricultural exports of bananas, coffee, citrus, beef, timber, and shrimp.

Our Goal is Partnership

We want to build relationships that will last. By taking teams each year, The Wood Group has opportunities to grow with brothers and sisters across the globe. Going on these trips is not only a good investment in the people of Honduras but a life-changing experience for those desiring to expand their faith and worldview.
